The Performance HD is a lightweight and robust precision rimfire barrel designed for the competitive shooter, varmint hunter, or anyone who demands the best for their rimfire rifle.

Design:

Representing the newest addition to the TacSol line of premium rimfire barrels, the innovative Performance Heavy Duty (HD) barrel is engineered to withstand the abuse of high-volume competitive shooting while providing a lightweight feel and precise shooting characteristics TacSol products have long been known for.

Like the standard X-Ring barrel and Performance LT barrel, the HD barrel comes with a premium-grade chromoly steel liner sleeved in a rigid aluminum shroud and finished with a precision 11-degree target crown, but that is only the starting point.

The new Performance HD barrel builds upon the lightweight and nimble feel of Tactical Solution's standard aluminum barrels by adding a new level of robustness through the incorporation of a heat-treated stainless-steel barrel shank and muzzle thread.

Starting with the 416 stainless-steel barrel shank, this precision-machined upgrade has been designed for longevity, withstanding tens of thousands of rounds without deformation or damage.

In addition, they've also extended the stainless-steel shank to include the V-notch for the barrel block.  This feature further supports a solid barrel to receiver lock-up, especially when using Tactical Solution's upgraded stainless-steel V-Block.

The steel shank is precisely machined to match the tight tolerances of the X-Ring receiver, resulting in a snug drop-in fit for increased accuracy and performance.   The Performance HD barrel will also work in other 10/22® style receivers, but it may require light sanding of the barrel shank for optimal fit.   

On the muzzle of the barrel, Tactical Solution's have incorporated a new stainless-steel thread feature.  Rather than having a compensator or silencer thread onto an aluminum surface, they have permanently bonded a hardened stainless-steel muzzle insert for enhanced durability.  Machined on one of Tactical Solution's massive three-axis CNC lathes, this muzzle insert is precision machined in a single operation for a smooth and tight fit on any ½” x 28tpi muzzle device.

As a final touch of distinction for the new Performance HD barrel, Tactical Solution's developed a unique fluting pattern only found on this model of barrel in the Performance Barrel suite.  The new tapered fluting pattern gives this barrel an updated and refined look while not overpowering the aesthetics of the X-Ring rifle.

These performance-enhancing upgrades on the HD barrel add a mere 6 ounces to the total barrel weight, resulting in a final weight of 21 ounces for the HD.  This is still less than half the weight of a similar length and diameter stainless-steel barrel.
